MARLYNE'S CABBAGE-PATCH SOUP This was one of Marlyne's throw-together soups she made & forgot, as it cooked itself, till she was hungry
Ingredients:
1 lb. extra lean ground beef 4 stalks celery, diced 1/2 med. onion, diced 1/2 med. cabbage, cut in bite-size pieces 1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes 1 (10-3/4 oz.) can beef broth
1 (15 oz.) light red kidney beans 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce 1 med. can V-8 juice Dash pepper 1/4 tsp. chili powder (more to taste)
Directions:
Brown first 3 ingredients in a large heavy kettle. Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil; reduce heat & simmer 20 minutes. Better yet if simmered 2 hours. Serve with a green salad & a fresh hot loaf of French bread!
