IN THE PRODUCTION OF "THE COUNTRY BUNNY COOKBOOK"

 

About four months ago I gave my dear friend, Emil Baer, an old business card of mine, with a small logo of a country bunny behind a spinning wheel.  She was my fanciful idea that stood for "The Country Bunny Rabbitry", which I had at the time.  

 

Thanks to Emil's wonderful computer talent and imagination, he was able to expand the tiny pencil drawing to what you see on the cover of this cookbook.  He has custom-colored each bunny picture to fit right in with your kitchen color scheme.  

Emil also transformed purchased photo albums into custom-covered books, again using color schemes for lettering and inside front and back covers to match kitchen colors.  Emil often conferred with his Wife, Karen, about such matters as colors, so, my thanks also goes to you, Karen, for your wisdom and woman's objectivity.

 

I have been so grateful to be able to confer with Emil about such matters as what fonts and letter sizes go with the theme, how to fit a recipe into a 4 by 6 space, and about many other aspects of this book.  He also graciously offered to print the recipes onto the 4 by 6 card sheets.  In doing this he was able to catch any errors I may have made when I put the body of the recipes into a template.  

 

I have called Emil an Angel in a man's body, for without his help I would not have been able to accomplish this project.  He came along at just the right time in history to help me when I needed just the talents he has.  For all that Emil has done, he refuses to receive any remuneration for the many hours he has spent.  But I am very honored that he will accept one of the three cookbooks that have been produced by our joint efforts.  

 

Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, Emil, for your willingness to enable me, a blind person, to accomplish a project that I have long desired to do.  I am not able to give my Daughter and Daughter-In-Law a photo history of our Family.  But, an idea occurred to me that I could give them a different history with a collection of recipes that, not only appeal to me, but also those that were favorites or specialties of relatives and acquaintances.  A wonderful memory of a person may be triggered when we are reminded of them by the special dish they always brought to a Christmas Party or Potluck.  Thank you, Emil, for you have helped to bring my desire to fruition.
